We have great news to help you celebrate Shark Week! The U.S. government is now protecting scalloped hammerheads under the Endangered Species Act. Scalloped hammerheads are the first shark species ever to receive such federal protections. These sharks face serious threats from shark finning and bycatch throughout much of their range. Please join us in thanking the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for protecting scalloped hammerheads.
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Ocean Conservancy.
Thank You for Protecting Scalloped Hammerheads
Dear [Decision Maker],
Thank you! I'm so happy to see our government is moving in the right direction to protect extremely important and endangered marine life like scalloped hammerhead sharks. The populations of large sharks, like scalloped hammerheads, have been dropping rapidly. Scalloped hammerheads have lost 75 percent of their population in the last 20 years alone. If they were to disappear from the ocean completely, it could have serious consequences for the rest of ocean food web. Sharks play a key role in controlling the abundance of prey they feed on. Thanks to your hard work, scalloped hammerheads could see a great rebound and our oceans will be healthier as a result.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
